Dale, Indiana is a small town in Spencer County based in Carter Township. It used to be named Elizabeth upon its founding in 1843. Later on, it changed to its current name to honor Robert Dale Owen, who was the congressman then. Dale has a population of more than 1,500 residents.
A great thing about living in Dale is that it’s quiet and surrounded by a peaceful, rustic atmosphere, and it’s simple for you to befriend many people due to its tiny population. Despite its size, this small town is known for having the largest street festival in Spencer County: Dale Fall Festival. The September event serves lemonade shake-ups and elephant ears, plus it has game booths, rides, and live entertainment. Dale Fall Festival takes place at Dale Park, a cute park with play areas, picnic tables, a gazebo, and a basketball court. On Wallace Street, you’ll find the local library, which is right next to the Dale City Community Center. The community center has exercise equipment, a gymnasium, and ball fields. Adding to its allure, the town is about six miles from Lincoln City, a community where Abraham Lincoln spent his childhood. Lincoln City has a park dedicated to the former President called Lincoln State Park. This park has a 19th-century farm, an amphitheater, areas suited for camping and hiking, and more.
